Jordan Peele confirms that title of ‘Nope’ is a spoiler

He’s peeling back the curtain behind his process.

Jordan Peele in a new interview with IMDb, posted to TikTok Friday, confirmed that the title of his newest film, “Nope,” is indeed a spoiler-filled double entendre.

The “Get Out” Oscar winner, 43, couldn’t get out of elaborating on the title when star Keke Palmer asked whether fans’ theories that the sci-fi horror is actually an acronym for “Not of Planet Earth,” is correct.

“I was trying to let people figure that one out for themselves, you know?” said Peele. “So I wasn’t leaning into that but the cat’s out of the bag. We are talking about a UFO here and it is not of planet Earth and it also of course refers to how Black people — what we would say if we saw a UFO: ‘Nope.’ It’s like … no extraterrestrial.”

“The kids are going to live for that,” said Palmer, 28.

“Yeah, ‘Not of Planet Earth,’” said Peele. “You got it, OK?”

As the “Lightyear” actress cheered, Peele lamented that he had “a regular Tom Holland over here,” nodding to the 26-year-old “Spider-Man” star’s notorious penchant for inadvertently leaking Marvel spoilers.

“Nope” premiered Stateside last week and quickly overtook “Thor: Love and Thunder” at the North American box office, with an opening weekend that raked in an out-of-this-world $44 million.
