John Boyega has bigger plans in mind than the MCU

John Boyega’s been to a galaxy far, far away, so it’s no wonder he’s not marveled by the MCU.

Though joining the multibillion-dollar Disney-owned collection of superheroes on the big screen seems to be a rite of passage for actors looking to make it big, the British “Star Wars” alum, 30, isn’t exactly starry-eyed about adding a cape or latex ensemble to his resume.

“That’s not in the vision for me now,” Boyega said in a new interview with Men’s Health.

“I want to do nuanced things,” he said.

That, he said, means he wants to instead focus his energies on projects that haven’t entirely overtaken the cinematic landscape time and again with the backing of one of the world’s most well-known corporations.

“I want to donate my services to original indie films that come with new, fresh ideas, because I know it’s real hard to top ‘Iron Man’ in that universe,” said Boyega.

His upcoming projects include “They Cloned Tyrone” — a conspiracy/fueled mystery — and “The Woman King,” an 18th and 19th century epic set in the African state of Dahomey.
