A California man tried to hoodwink actress Edie McClurg and marry her, while also sexually assaulting one of her caregivers, according to McClurg’s cousin and conservator.
Angelique Cabral said a man named Michael Ramos “was able to finagle his way” into McClurg’s life and her California home, the Los Angeles Times reported. McClurg, 77, has been under a conservatorship since 2019 due to dementia.
Cabral also said that Ramos sexually assaulted one of McClurg’s caregivers “on more than one occasion,” according to People magazine. The caregiver has filed a police report.
The July court filing, which was not known until Tuesday, also said Ramos had tried to sneak McClurg out of the state to marry her, TMZ reported. According to the documents, that plot was only stopped by the court.
Cabral said that Ramos and McClurg “have never been romantically involved” but that she worried Ramos may be assaulting McClurg and that the actress “may not even know what is happening to her,” according to the L.A. Times.
The filing also claims that Ramos is unemployed and has never helped pay McClurg’s rent, essentially freeloading, People reported. Cabral asked for the court to remove Ramos from the home, following up to request a restraining order in a July 25 filing.
Previously, the court allowed Ramos to stay, saying he provided “companionship.” The judge has not yet ruled on Cabral’s latest filings.
McClurg is best known for her role as the school secretary in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” She also appeared in “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” and is known for her voice work in “The Little Mermaid,” “Cars” and “Wreck-It Ralph.”
