Two arrested in connection with Pleasant Hill shooting

Child molestation suspect arrested following years-long manhunt

PLEASANT HILL – Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting earlier this month at Pleasant Oaks Park in Pleasanton, police said.

The shooting was reported at 10:55 p.m. on Sept. 9. Several juveniles at the scene told Pleasant Hill police officers they had been shot at by two people who then fled in a black sedan.

Detectives identified one of the suspects as a 19-year-old Antioch man. On Sept. 11, search and arrest warrants were served at his residence. Police said a firearm, the vehicle used during the alleged crime and other related evidence was recovered.

On Sept. 12, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office charged the man with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, including enhancements. He is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on $680,000 bail.

A 19-year-old Pittsburg man was identified as a second suspect. Search and arrest warrants were served at his residence on Wednesday. A high-capacity handgun magazine, ammunition and other related evidence was recovered, according to police.

The man was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. Charges are pending against him.
